Dear OASIS Friends,
I am honored that David Rock, CEO of Results Coaching System, has invited me to lead off two mornings of his first-ever Northern Hemisphere Neuroleadership Summit.* World-renowned scientists, including
will gather with other researchers,
executives, coaches, and leaders from various professions at the Millenium
Hotel in New York City from Tuesday, October 28 through
Thursday, October 30.*
David Rock, the coach/author who coined the term neuroleadership, is noted for his pioneering work in "brain-based coaching." David says, "I invited Millie to present at the Neurosummit because she teaches important leadership skills, bridging both science and application." I am very excited by this opportunity to bring the simple OASIS brain-changing strategies to this illustrious group - and to deepen my own knowledge by learning from and with them. We are in a time of tangible rapid change: leaves turning crimson before they dive off the trees in my front yard, global and personal economies writhing, election debates boiling, wars raging. And each of us wakes up each morning to a new day, new possibilities, fresh choices. What a time to be alive! I thought that the three quotes - from such diverse folks as Jeffrey Schwartz, the Dalai Lama, and Lance Armstrong - might kick us into a greater determination to live right now fully, bringing out the best in our bodies and our brains. Warm regards, Millie

"Happiness is not a fixed characteristic, a biological set point that will never change. Instead, the brain is plastic, and our quota of happiness can be enhanced through mental training."

Handbook for Living (New York: Penguin Putnam, 1998); quoted in
my OASIS in the Overwhelm, p. 130.
"Time
is limited, so I better wake up every morning fresh and know that I have
just one chance to live this particular day right, and to string my days
together into a life of action and purpose."
